Had this been the case, it could've been the first concrete confirmation that Half-Life 3 is in active development. Consequently, it's fair to say that people jumped on the announcement like a herd of esurient oxen.
Unfortunately, it now transpires that HTC's spokesperson might've been overdoing it with the enthusiasm pills.

Now Wang has been forced to clarify her somewhat hesitant comments.
"I would like to apologise for any confusion caused when I referred to individual games titles," she whistled.
"In response to a question on specific games, I misspoke when I referred to our working together with Valve on a particular game, when instead I meant our collaboration with Valve on developing next-generation virtual reality experiences for gaming."
So. Read into that what you will. The Vive is currently scheduled for release later this year.
