TOM CLANCY'S THE DIVISIOn - SCREENSHOT GALLERY

12/3/2016

Tom Clancy's The Division is one of the biggest releases of this year so far - an open world, always online, strategic shoot 'em up set in an abandoned New York.

I'm still working through the PS4 version so that I can bring you a review next week. In the meantime, here's a screenshot gallery of some of the action thus far.

Jealousy is rampant within me, Mr. Biffo - I crave a PS4 in a manner unseemly, having witnessed the majesty of these blue screens.

Are Sony collaborating with Microsoft, or have they simply licenced the terror-inducing BSOD?

It's a clever tone-setting strategy, I believe, in the manner of the fake-errors and failures of Eternal Darkness. Can the game itself deliver on the promise of this awesome opening gambit?

I really must stop posting comments whilst in the grip of a migraine.

You missed out on the Mike 20250383 side mission last night? Unlucky, it was an hour and a half of unbridled queuing for a server fun.

Since playing The Division, I've now taken to doing jumping jacks at my work laptop for an hour every morning.

Yeah that Mike thing was mega annoying!

I quit and went to bed. Then I got up, logged on and got kicked off again after 5 mins by server maintenance!

Can you or anyone explain to me what the hell that jumping jack thing is all about?! I never saw it in the brief time I spent into the beta.

I bought the full game, got home from work and high level characters were all stood around doing jumping jacks by the quest people!

What the...!???!

The jumping jacks was most felt on Tuesday night with the daft mechanism for getting into the game where you had to register on the laptop after meeting Lau. Unfortunately the servers were saturated so everyone was clamouring to get on to the laptop and only one person was allowed to log in at a time. Ridiculous way of getting going on a game. The only options were to do star jumps and wait or log out in the hope of getting a less busy server when logging back in.

I only do jumping jacks when I'm AFK, or when I'm paying homage to my hit movie from the 80's.

I also do jumping jacks when I've got gas, gas, gas.

Remember when you used to put a cartridge into a console and just play... Yes, I remember those days...

Yes! Those days when games came on cartridges were the high point when the games industry seemed to think people preferred to just get on and actually play the video game they had just paid forty quid for. "It's time to Update your new game! The size of the update will take the rest of the evening as you have shitey broadband you stingy bastard!"

I'm as excited by this game as I was Watch Dogs. Not much then.

Try unplugging it.

And then plugging it back in.

Sounds like your Division installation is borked.

The best plan is to delete it, boot the ps4 in safe mode. Power off then power on keeping the power button held down on the ps4.

Once the safe menu is displayed choose “Rebuild Database” - this takes awhile.

Once done reinstall the game and download the patches again.

Even consoles have a 'safe mode' now? Good grief. I genuinely didn't know that.

It's kind of more like a BIOS in a way as it's what you go into when you put a blank drive in (e.g. SSD upgrade) and tell it to install the PS OS from a USB stick etc.

As opposed to the windows version where it just loads up with no drivers etc.

I'm enjoying it, very few server issues (had a sound bug) me & some friends playing co-op joyously. 7 divisions out of 10
