TERMINATOR GENISYS - SCRIPT EXCLUSIVE!

If you've seen Terminator Genisys, it's unlikely that you came away from the experience feeling optimistic about the future of the fleshy-robot franchise. To wit: it's a muddled, ill-cast, shambles, with saccharine moments of soap opera emotion crowbarred into a relentlessly kinetic assault on the senses.

However, there are some brief points of light in amidst the gloom - a feeling that, with a little more work, it could've been the film that the series deserves. Or... was it already at one point in its development a better movie, before getting diluted? Digitiser2000 has managed to unearth an early draft of the screenplay, which suggests it originally boasted a somewhat different tone and direction. Read our exclusive extract for yourself to judge whether they got it wrong or right.

I would very much like to see the rest of this script.

I imagine the soundtrack will a little bit more mellow...

They're clearly saving the better plot developments for the director's cut.

*No spoilers*
I know this isn't a film review website, but I saw Genisys today and its uselessness actually made me quite angry. From the awful CGI (a truck that blows up in the background during the initial assault on Skynet looked like it had its special effects done on a Game & Watch) to an actor playing Kyle Reese who is so charisma-free that you are desperate for him to be killed, and an actress portraying Sarah Connor who plays the character like a teenager ('This sucks!' Bite me!', 'Just because we were holding each other naked doesn't mean anything', etc), I found the whole thing to be thuddingly dull. Only Arnold barely saves it, and even he seems to have largely forgotten how to play the character (which really shouldn't be that hard). Plotlines that go unexplained, endless samey action scenes and two of the best actors in it (Matt Smith and JK Simmons) both criminally under-used. This was almost as bad as the last one, and that's going some.
Unless Mr Biffo writes the script for the next one (Terminator: Timeless Erection) then count me out.

I liked T5. It was entertaining.

But then I like ham sandwiches without margarine. I hate it when people rip on vanilla for being 'generic'.
