Actually, no - we're not getting married. But it's almost as exciting. On October 1st 2016, Digitiser2000 will be co-hosting Block Party 2016: The Teletext and Digitiser Festival. Yes, that's right: an actual festival dedicated to all things Digitiser and teletext!

It'll be taking place at the Centre for Computing History in Cambridge, and will be an entire day of teletext and Digitiser-related activities. During the afternoon there'll be a live recording of the TeletextR podcast, a Teletext designers panel, demonstrations of how to recover old teletext pages, and other actives. Plus special guests!

Then you'll be treated to a full evening of Digitiser-related madness - further details of which will follow soon.

Tickets will include access to the museum, and will be going on sale shortly. Consider this a heads-up to put the date in your diaries.

If you've got suggestions for things you'd like to see at Block Party 2016 - please leave them in the comments. And we hope to see you there.

I'd like to see a giant picture of Turner the Worm being sick. Actually, something on the making of that strip would be fun.

A giant, interactive game of Bamboozle somehow.

A lecture arguing how Teletext is better than the internet.

The actual Mr T - ensure he is fully fed on Marathons and briefed as to what Teletext is and why he is there.

He just needs to be positioned strategically near some bins. If anybody approaches, he booms, "stay away from my bins".

An interactive Bamboozle isn't far off something we actually are planning to do...

This needs to occur in a large area to allow the participants to select their answer by standing in a specific spot Rounaround-style.

Bonus points to the organisers if they can actually dig up Mike Reid's corpse to host it.

Double bonus points, if they can get the corpse to wear the Bacofoil spacesuit he sported when he introduced the first episode of He-Man and The Masters of the Universe on Children's ITV...

I'll be there like The Four Tops.

Suggestion: brief retrospective covering the ZX Spectrum Teletext-styled "Spectacle" (Design Design), "Sceptical" (Delta 4), and "YS2" (J Nash.)

I just think it'd be funny to see you hiding behind a plinth with an old boot on it, beatboxing.

That's highly unlikely to occur. Lower your expectations even further.

Nude beatboxing, with an old boot preserving your modesty.

I'd like to see plenty of Ceefax dissing.

Cuss them bad.

Actually, didn't Biffo say there was once a snakes animated series in the works? If there's any test footage of that knocking around, it might be interesting to see.

Actually... it was a puppet show. We filmed about 10 of them. I MAY have them on tape somewhere. I'll see what I can find. I'll also dig out any old Digi memorabilia I can find. Not sure I've got much, but I might have some...

So, one minute we're getting married, the next we're not. Honestly, living with you is like being in a bad storyline from the Archers* or something like that.

Why not book the Cassetteboy comedy disco for afterwards? Their brand of purile, offensive musical humour definitely appeals to me, and I'd imagine most other Biffo fans?

I'll look him up. We've got a packed provisional schedule - not sure we've time for a comedy disco afterwards. We'll no doubt hit the pub, though...

Also, he'll probably want paying, and we're not aiming to make a profit!

Make sure every panel starts 1/5th of the way through so the people have to try to ignore what they're saying until it gets back to the start.

Hahaha...a classic. I remember squinting at the screen to try to watch the page numbers whilst not seeing any of the text/score for reviews...

A stall run by none other than yourself, creating live teletext-art caricatures at 1996 prices.

You know, back in the day of Digi i struggled to go without to such an extent, that even waking up hungover in some squalid strangers house, with comatose drunks littering the living room i would religiously sneak the tv on and plug in the Digitiser teletext page number before anyone woke up... good times

You will need to have lots of groovy electronic library music, like they used to play when they showed pages from ceefax and teletext on TV.

Invite selected Digitiser correspondents to perform live recitals of some of their best (worst) letters.
