I've spent the past 2 days in work listening to Fish era Marillion. And I still believe the live albums/tracks are so, so much better than any of the studio versions. Gutted I didn't get to see 'em both together in their prime.

I saw them a fair few times before they parted ways. He doesn't quite sound the same these days, but Fish is touring Misplaced Childhood later this year.

I see him a few times when he first went solo - I got into Marillion just as he was leaving - and he was ace. Loved his first two solo albums. Probably because they sounded like Marillion. Then I kinda lost touch with him. I listened to a newish version of Grendel from one of the recent live albums and his voice has changed a lot...but he's still a lot better sounding than most aging rockers. I'd love to see him do Misplaced but the chances of him doing it anywhere close to LA are slim to none, I would expect.

I believe Marillion are scheduled to do a US tour next year. Admittedly, without Fish... but they're still an excellent live proposition.

I have an nigh-on annual crawl of the web to find old digi archive content to amuse myself in these cruel summer months, so imagine my suprise and delight to see digi is back like a phoenix from the grave.
