There's a live action Sonic the Hedgehog movie on the way!

Hajime Satomi, CEO of Sega's parent company - Sega Sammy Group - this week revealed the project to reporters: "Sega Sammy Group is currently planning with Sony Pictures to create a live-action and animation hybrid ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ movie scheduled for release in 2018."

Traditionally, video game movies haven't exactly set the box office alight, though the imminent, Michael Fassbender-starring Assassin's Creed movie is expected to do better than most.

However, with the right talent behind it, we dare say a Sonic movie will be huge.

And - whaddayaknow? - we just happened to have gotten our hands on the first few pages of the Sonic The Hedgehog movie screenplay. Click on to read it for yourself...

The trouble is the actual script will be nowhere near this good. You've probably given them far too many ideas!!

I'm a professional voice actor-- well, OK I've been PAID for voice work I hesitate to give the impression that I approach it all that professionally-- and I read this over Skype to one of my friends.

Sonic had an inexplicable New York / Bronx accent - up until I had to try and do Amy's New York accent and had issues keeping them straight. Then he sort of sounded like Midwestern BMX or other X-Treme sports professional who was feigning enthusiasm.

Tales had the voice of a second-grader in a school play.

Amy had my "Molly" voice, named after Molly from the English dub of Sailor Moon. The phrase I consistently use to get into this voice is "Aww, Serena, you know I don't have a real sister - my mom had her tubes tied so she'd never have another abomination like me, I mean I have a Brooklyn accent in Japan!" (Thanks to Megami33 from YouTube.)

I actually do a Will Ferrell impression. It's not flattering but I had fun making the lines obnoxious and ad-libbing my own unfunny variants on them as I imagine he must as I'm not sure I want to live in a world where his lines are the result of deliberate writing.

I'm a little sick and this is very rough, but the roughness keeps the spirit of the work here intead of just making it seem like I'm reading a bad script.

I'm enjoying how terrible the film looks. Maybe they'll go for Street Fighter levels of so bad it's brilliant rather than Mario Bros so bad it's diabolical.
