E3: STAR FOX ZERO TRAILER "LOOKS NICE"

Nintendo may have stayed away from E3, in order to look all enigmatic, and like it's above those sorts of things, but that hasn't stopped it holding its own online-only event.

It announced a wholly unexpected hook-up between its collectible Amiibo characters and the similar Skylanders series, and unveiled a bunch of 3DS titles - the multiplayer-focused Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes, Metroid Prime: Federation Heroes, and Mario & Luigi Paper Jam (an epic meeting of the Paper Mario characters with their 3D counterparts, basically).

But it was the anticipated exposing of the Wii U's Star Fox Zero that has elicited the biggest whoopings. In short: it looks like Star Fox... but with transforming vehicles. Why dontcha do some clickin' to see it, Steven?

It looks no better than a Gamecube game. There's pictures doing the round of a 1080p comparison between this and a GC Star Wars shooter from over 10 years ago at the moment.

In a world where Elite Dangerous looks imponderably lush, that trailer looked pretty arcadey and sterile - but utterly in keeping with the original I guess.
I remember using my imagination to make it much more grand in my brain memory way back on the snes.

I have actually enjoyed my Wii U and still get hours of drunken fun on Mario Kart with a mate but it is pretty much dead and buried now.

With Nintendo going into the Smartphone market they will make a lot of money but will become pretty much irrelevant in the eyes of gamers which is a real shame as I grew up with their classics. They don't interest or appeal to me anymore
