And lo, did The Mighty Tonnty decree that there shall be the unearthing of another classic edition of Digitiser from more than two decades ago.

It really is something getting to see all this old stuff again - not least for its historical significance, and the warm, creeping, hum it provides in my snood.

This instalment from a weekend, which means you get Violet Berlin's report from Japan, a Hot Topic that's already looking forward to Christmas (plus a feature-length Snakes story), a viewer review, and a feature pondering what's going to happen with Sega's Dreamcast. How very interesting!!!!

Massive big-ups to Wagoo and Chris Bell - "The Dirty Duo" - for providing this edition.

Enjoyable to go back over an exciting time in gaming!

A question: were the e-mail addresses published back then sanitised in any way, or were they printed verbatim?

As Mr PSB can testify, they were originally printed in full, meaning viewers could - and did - email them. Digi stopped printing the domains later that year, possibly even as a response to PSB’s ‘fan mail’ from Amiga owners...

That's exactly what I remember happening - but it was a few years ago now, so I was questioning it!

At last I have found a review of spyro that is honest ever since the remastered versions were announced people keep saying what an amazing game it was but I remember from back in the day it was a lame attempt at Mario 64

If you didn’t have an N64, it was as good as you were going to get for 3D platformers at the time. Perhaps fittingly, 3D platformers being essentially nonexistent in 2018 meant that the very same “yeah, it’ll do since there’s no better option” sentiment likely helped to make the remaster a huge success.

I do hope that letter writer’s use of the term “GreyStation” was ironic.

Did the Dreamcast save SEGA in the end? Asking for a friend

Blimey - reading the Sega article, you can feel the hope for a much loved brand... And now they just churn out dodgy Sonic tat and reissue Megadrive games.
Will it ever be possible for Sega to come back to the console scene, or at least show some love to some of the most respected franchises it once created?

My lip was curling with smug hindsighty judgeyness, but this cautious and hopeful optimism is exactly what I was feeling ahead of the launch of the Swtich, when everyone + dog was proclaiming that Nintendo were about to write the last disastrous chapter in their history as a console manufacturer.

I'd even make the same point about people underestimating the cash reserves built up in the glory days being more than enough to weather a few rocky years, at which point the postman would say 'listen, I won't report this I swear, just untie me, please, for God's sake I have a family.'

In Sega's case though the naysayers were right :( at least they've managed to live on as a software house.

Clog Assault sounds interesting.

It seems rather improbable that 21 years later I would laughing out loud at the snakes again, and yet, here we are.

Should I be worried that I still have an adolescent sense of humour though? Ah, who cares. Bum!
