Thanks for sharing your initial Cockney opinion Biffo. I too enjoyed BF, but skipped Unity, so if you've had a pleasant experience thus far with Syndicate it bodes well for my own enjoyment.
It's going to be a long month avoiding spoilers and waiting on this to come out though...
Nice vid Mr B...Not sure if I'm interested in this or not pretty much for the exact reasons you outlined there.
Having said that, does it really start in Croydon or was that just a throwaway aside at the expense of my awful hometown? If it really does open in Croydon, then it is probably the first and only game to use it as a location and on that alone I may just have to buy it.
Cheers, gents. And, Ben - yes... it really does begin in Croydon. Of all places...
I wasn't interested in this until I saw a couple of gameplay videos and read a review. I think I will get this sometime during the summer next year. I really enjoyed Black Flag so I hope its as good but I bet there aren't anywhere near the number of mentions of Bristol as Black Flag did. I feel the addition of sea shanties was a genius idea and played around with the concept of music while you sail (drive).
The AssCreed (sorry that still makes the child in me laugh) games have always had great atmosphere with very good voice acting using a good variety of of decent regional accents that you don't find in many other games.
(I know nothing about Assassins Creed but I have just watched this video). The scenery looked stunning but the people looked awful. They were all that kind of clichéd scruffy-casual-hard-nut looking people. Stories in games are also a major turn off for me, especially if there is no way to skip the cut scenes. I like to be able to press START, see what my current objective is, I don't need any motivation or investment in character because I will do it anyway if it is fun.
Sounds like Croydon hasn't changed much then ;)
Out of interest, is it possible for you to capture any gameplay for these videos? Or are you saving that for the review proper? Because while the videos are pretty (and they've done a decent job of fixing the glassy-eyed stare of a lot of the characters compared to previous efforts IMO), they don't really give me a feel for the game (as someone who has played one AC game before on the 360, and found it to be cack).
Your dulcet (cockney) tones do go a long way to making up though.
Already ahead of you... A sort of "Let's Play" video will be up later tonight or tomorrow.
