A THING WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO: CUPHEAD

There are many things we love, here at Digitiser 2000: eating nuts off a sedated pig's back... brushing our hair with a mysterious rib... using a special tube to erotically attend to our own sternum...

We also love games that don't go the obvious route. Games which take their inspiration from unexpected sources, and pulp them into something new. It's part of what we enjoyed about Hotline Miami - from its graphics to its music, it evokes a time and a place, while being totally its own thing.

Announced last year, Studio MDHR's Cuphead boasts a similarly singular vision - taking, as a starting point, 1930s cartoons by people like Max Fleischer and Disney.

A platform shoot 'em up, which plays like a string of boss encounters, it's the visuals in Cuphead that have really gotten us excited. It's due out soon on the Xbox One and Steam, but for now just l
ook at this hand-drawn gorgeousness and weep with engorged anticipation:

Yes indeed, that does look rather spiffing. I hope the gameplay is as good as the visuals.

I'm probably in the minority here, but does anyone else feel really uncomfortable when looking at 1930s style animation? Not specifically this game, but any animation of that era. The original Disney stuff creeps me out compared to the later more refined stuff.

I think it's the joints. They're all so bendy... *_*

Hot damn. That's... It's... It's all... Aesthetic, y'know? Every now and then I buy a game that I'll never, ever, play, but I like the style of (like Jazzpunk or Sir, You Are Being Hunted for example), and this could well be one of them.

My anticipation glands are indeed gorged with a wealth of oily substances at the thought of this game. Even if it plays like a badly maintained power tool, I shall buy it and hug it and squeeze it and call it George.

It does look really good. I've been looking forward to this since it was announced. I just hope the animation is consistent.

P.S. My glans is weeping. Is this normal?

Man, this looks really pretty. I don't have a gaming PC or an Xbone though, just a PS4. Pah.
