5 CHINESE ARCADE GAMES YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF

We miss the golden era of arcade gaming. What arcades are left are bolted to the side of bowling alleys, or crumbling on a seafront. We yearn for the days when arcades were an evening out - when the likes of Namco's Ridge Racer Full Scale and Galaxian 3 verged on being theme park rides.

Fortunately, there's still one company producing big arcade machines - China's Guangzhou Huataibaishun Animation Technology Co. Ltd. Described on its corporate website as "Different, unique and reflesh", Huataibaishun's "activities bring sprint and strength", and they claim that "we find it new and excited in the activity".

Their corporate ethos further develops these concepts: "Dear customers: you are the engine of us. We are pushed forward by your wise choice. Dear customers: thanks for your support sincerely!"

Here are five of their more notable products. Thanks for your support sincerely!

5. THE BIANCOCELESTI CHARIOTS
Picture
This looks like a decent enough shooting game. It's a nice touch that the sit-down bit looks like a half-track (replete with shovel and authentic light-up wheels), and the screen is made to resemble an oncoming tank. The name, though? Your guess is as good as ours. We Googled it, and the only reference we could find to Biancocelesti was something to do with an Italian football team. Fair enough.
4. ROTATION OF THE CHARM
Picture
Rotation of the Charm (no idea) makes Rock Band look rather pathetic; this is perhaps the ultimate game for the attention-seeker: thumping drums, stage lights, stage, and dry ice. You might as well run around the arcade with your top off, twirling your flaming t-shirt above your head, while shrieking like a banshee.
3. THE ADVENTURES OF CORN AND VEGETABLES
Picture
Like many of you, we've often fantasised about going on a corn/vegetable-based adventure, and we're just glad that someone has finally seen fit to produce a game that caters to people like us.
2. THE BULL DEMON KING
Picture
Yes, this prize-giving arcade machine really is called The Bull Demon King. We've tried to work out the nature of the game - but we keep getting distracted by the dead eyes of those three stuffed toys. We suspect the one on the right is The Bull Demon King, and hisses and spits powerful acid at the glass if you fail to win a prize. Then it hunts you down and murders you in your sleep.
1. AMUSING MACHINE
Picture
Again, no idea - and just in a static image it's hard to gauge just how amusing this machine is. Perhaps it slips on a banana peel, or steps on a garden rake, while emitting fart noises, or something. Even the artwork is baffling: are those toupee-wearing roast chickens?!

Super Bad Advice

In the dim and distant past, while on a seaside jolly to blow all my pocket money failing to get past stage 3 of OutRun, I saw a young skank have a go on the (then brand new) full-sized 360 degree rotating version of G-LOC. He actually got so excited/terrified he 'evacuated himself' while playing, much to the horror of his mother and friends.

It didn't help that this was the early 1990s so he was wearing white jeans. Well, formerly white jeans anyway.

Once again Digi2000 manages to deliver. I'm going to be laughing about "The Adventures of Corn and Vegetables" for at least a week.

They missed a trick by not having an intestine like tube spit out a little brown plastic trophy with yellow speckles to the winner.
