13 IMAGES THAT EVERY AMIGA OWNER WILL INSTANTLY RECOGNISE!

Digitiser launched 23-and-a-half years ago, and immediately upset Amiga owners, because we initially stated we wouldn't be covering the Amiga, as it was "a dying format".

We were proved right, of course. Digitiser never got anything wrong. Before that point, we were flooded with letters from furious Amiga owners, demanding that - as a public service (their words) - we had an obligation to cover their obsolete machine.

Nevertheless, while the moral and factual victory might've been ours, it has been long enough. It is time that we let bygones be bygones, and extend an olive branch to the Amiga community. So here is a feature just for them - 13 images that every Amiga owner will instantly recognise!

No! They were always nice. They accepted their fate with good grace.

Guess it was the end of an era in some ways? After years of speccies and Amstrads and commodores and ataris, this was last proper computer that any gamers cared about that wasn't a PC. From here it was either submit to the will of Bill Gates or get a console.

People only bought Amigas because they're racist and thought it would stop immigrants coming in.

Can you do screen dragging on your fancy-pants PC? I think not.

Loved this? Perhaps one day could you do a picture feature for people like me who had a Speccy and always dreamed of having parents rich enough to afford to buy an Amiga (but were overjoyed when they finally got a SNES)?

🤓I was really showing off with my Amiga CD32. It never lasted as I got the Jaguar after that.

Ah, I wondered why I had vague memories of being pissy towards Digitiser when I was a kid! Presumably it was their disgusting attitude towards the Amiga ;-)

If the Amiga was dying in '93, I hung on for a while; didn't get a PC till '95 and our house remained console-free till my little brother got an N64.

The Amiga scene in 1994 was essentially a real-life version of Weekend at Bernie's.

Amiga owners think they had it tough. My beloved Acorn Archimedes didn't even matter enough for a mocking.

Chocks Away and Star Fighter 3000 were just as good as anything on your poxy Amiga. That crap box didn't even have a 32bit RISC CPU: the processor of the future. OK, so you had 900 games for every one ported to Acorn, but big fucking deal - I'll take quality over quantity any day...

It had a great version of Elite, you know!

One of the biggest mysteries of home computing is how the Archie failed to dominate the industry, despite John Leslie scientifically proving its superiority in this cutting edge video:

"When you go into a computer shop, just remember: TAME SPROGS"

I do Lesie. I still do.

The reason the Archimedes didn't dominate was the 700 quid price tag of the base model and Acorn having all the street cred of Michael Gove,

I'm not sure I get your point? That's not even twice the price of its competitors - a bargain!

And street cred? Are you trying to say Blue Peter's John Leslie wasn't down with da kids?

Acorn had a recommendation from the department of education for fuck sake. How much more street cred can you get?

You forgot to mention their insistence that it was 'coming back' for about 15 years after its deat... no, wait - they're still claiming that.

The Amiga guys on my University course were absolutely insufferable. I was glad when they were all hit by that bus I was driving.

It wasn't my fault I was poor :-(
I had a Spectrum when everyone had Amigas and an Amiga when everyone had PCs.

I was deeply disturbed to read your assignation of the UK's favourite home computer. Commodore takes such accusations very seriously and having consulted our top legal team at the Citizens Advice Bureau I can advise you we will be taking legal action against your organisation. We will be seeking damages of 1 billion dollars.

And don't you dare take the piss out of the Commodore Plus 4 either or we will get REALLY angry.

I'm an Amiga owner still and I still love it. I knew the Amiga was pretty much dead when people were raving about vga graphics, sound blaster and Roland sound, and cd roms. Especially when the solutions provided for Amiga owners were rubbish. The CDTV could have been great ...if it had only shared the A1200 internals and if the Graffiti and the FMV plug in had been integrated into the machines. The Amiga had so much going against it. All those arcade ports that looked great on the box but played like rubbish, but the there were just enough great games the likes of alien breed, super stardust and desert strike to give us hope. Ps. Have you ever looked for cdtv stuff on ebay? Dead weird, but you get knickers and things in the results.
