10 THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW ABOUT BEES

If you've played the video game Far Cry Primal you'll know how useful bees can be.

Not only can they do honey and buzzing, but stuff them into a thing and they become a type of bomb.

We all knew that bees were da bomb - but thanks to Far Cry Primal, they are now literally A bomb (note: not an A-bomb).

But what else can be done with bees? Here are 10 un-bee-lievable facts that you never bee (knew)!

10. How many bees does it take to change a lightbulb? This might sound like the set-up to an hilarious joke... but try telling that to the millions of people every year who are stung off bees after mistaking them for lightbulbs. They're not laughing. They're probably just going "Ow - I got stung off a bee".

9. You may have heard the phrase "the bee's knees", but bees literally are "the bee's knees", for they are the only living thing to have bee knees - a type of knee that only occurs on bees. And take it from us: they're the bee's knees!

8. Is it possible to ride on a bee? You might assume that the answer would be a resounding "no" - and you'd be right! Bees are quite small, and therefore difficult to ride upon.

However, had cowboys ridden bees instead of cows, they'd have acquired the name "beeboys". B-boys are more commonly referred to today as breakdancers - a type of dancing that looks as if you're fighting off some bees! This is because what goes "around" comes "around".

7. "Bee" is the second letter of the alphabet. Unless you're Greek, in which case it's "beeta". Or French - where it's "le pomp-de-dompt-de-doo", or something like that.

6. The longest buzz ever recorded off a bee lasted thirteen minutes and nine seconds from start to finish. After emitting the buzz, the bee was so exhausted and out of breath that its huffing and puffing could be heard as far away as Krentt.

5. Bee-troot is a type of vegetable grown by bees in their hives, and eaten exclusively by British pensioners and Russians.

4. Honey - the delicious sugary sauce made by bees - isn't the only bee product you can buy in supermarkets. You can also buy black-and-yellow shawls made from the skin of bees, and bees on sticks - for tickling your daddy's crannies.

3. Contrary to popular belief, the food "beef" doesn't come from bees, but from cows. Last year, a petition to change the name from "beef" to "cowf" gained over 30,000 signatures - but was rejected by the government, as it was written on funny paper.

2. The expression "to have a bee in your bonnet" refers to having a bright idea. This is somewhat ironic, for if you were to have an actual bee in your bonnet the only idea you'd be concerned with having is an idea for removing the bee (from your bonnet)!

1.  You might think getting stung off a bee would be the worst thing a bee could do to you - but we wouldn't want a bee to piss and poo on us either.

Yet another bee-related article without an appearance by James the Bee from "WHAT VIDEO GAMES WOULD THE ANIMALS PLAY IF THE ANIMALS COULD PLAY GAMES?"

Why? Where is James the Bee? Is he dead?

On a side note, telling someone to"behave" is literally admonishing them to mimic rich bees (bee-haves) rather than poor bees (bee- have nots.) The second e and hypen in bee-have was dropped by King George I in his famous Georgewordbook dictionary, although he spoke only German the King was concerned that the word looked fat and bumbling.

I've got no cause for complaint with that response.Frankly, I was expecting something a lot more waspish.

Indeed, there's quite the buzz around this article. I'm having palpitations just looking at all the clever puns. Oh, bee sting my beating heart!

Of course the only rational response to all of this bee related punning is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1GadTfGFvU

Aww, how sweet. You saw some people having a bit of fun that didn't affect you in the slightest and you decided to be rude about them. Lovely stuff!

I'll bet when he reads that he'll shout "ouch, that stung!" and rethink his pointless internet aggression in a tearful yet cathartic state. All of his posts from now on will be filled with honeyed words.
